Ruby Sky Stiler, Untold Stories

Ruby Sky Stiler’s figurative and geometric configurations are studies on daily life that update established gender archetypes. Standing Artist and Father with Child, included in this exhibition, continue her reflection on the subject of fatherhood—specifically the discrepancies of depictions of men displaying emotional intimacy or being defined by their relationship to children—compared to the canon of “mother and child” in an art historical context. The female figure, on the other hand, is unmoored from domestic identities: a woman painting.
