INTERGENERATIONAL LIVE VIRTUAL ART WORKSHOP WITH LINA PUERTA

Las Plantas y Yo/Plants & I

Please join us for an interactive, virtual family workshop with the Sugar Hill Children’s Museum 2019-2020 Artist-in-Residence, Lina Puerta, inspired by her Kinship series. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the creative process with the artist as their guide. Through the use of coloring and collage techniques with non-traditional materials, families will create artwork that reflects on our relationship with the natural world and food plants.

About The Artist

Lina Puerta was born in New Jersey and grew up in Colombia. Her work examines the relationship between the artificial and natural world using materials like concrete, clay, wood, and fabric.

As SHCMAS Artist-in-Residence, Lina has conducted various workshops with preschool students, museum families, and members of our community.


Materials Needed:

  • Two sheets of paper, any color (8X11)

  • White glue

  • Scissors

  • Pencil

  • Markers, crayons, color pencils or any medium to color with

  • Scraps of fabric, textured papers, magazines, or decorative paper

  • Small adornments, i .e. jewelry remnants, ribbons, buttons, hair accessories...

  • A house plant or branch you would like to draw
